Summer has gone and it's downhill to Christmas
As I drove to work this morning through heavy rain, listening to a report about the Met Office changing their forecast for August from "Barbecue Summer" to "Unsettled", I couldn't help feeling slightly miffed about the poor quality of our summer weather.
I'm normally fairly relaxed about the weather but, having spent last summer in Tallinn (where the weather is never really much better than "Unsettled", and occasionally leans toward "Cold, going on Arctic"), I was quite looking forward to a long hot summer of barbecues and gin. A long wet autumn now seems more likely, which doesn't sound quite so good and probably rules out barbecues.
Fortunately, gin can be enjoyed from the warmth and comfort of the sofa; pass the lemon and tonic as you go past.
